Postdoc travels and exploration, Fall 2018: After successfully defending her Ph.D. dissertation at University of Virginia on July 30, 2018, Ali fled the country to travel around Europe for two months with her husband, Hunter, and son, Oliver. After an initial adventure in Iceland, Ali and her family were based out of a flat in London, England. The three of them ate and explored their way through Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, Sicily, Italy, and France before returning to Charlottesville, VA to begin her postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Charles N. Landen, MD. She is now working toward developing new strategies for early detection of ovarian cancer.
