Jessica Yuan successfully defended her PhD today at the University of Virginia in the historical Dome Room of the Rotunda. Her thesis, entitled "Tissue-engineered models of the glioblastoma tumor microenvironment" encompassed her patient-based analysis to design a novel model of the glial-tumor microenvironment in glioblastoma. Jess finished her thesis in under 4 years and published 3 first author papers. Along with thanking her committee, labmates, family and friends, she also thanked her cat, James P. Sullivan. Jess will be working at Genentech in South San Francisco starting in August. Congratulations Dr. Yuan!
